In mid July while working in his back yard Kary, lives in Gonzales Louisiana, lost his platinum wedding band digging an 8" trench. He and his wife Jessica searched hours to no avail for the ring in the dirt and mud. In despair she fired up her computer and found my web site, Lost Ring Finders.
Jessica sent an email detailing the loss and was obviously very upset it could not be found. She asked if I could help, they were desparate. I assured her with a reply email I would do my best to find someone with a metal detector to help her and Kary. The ring is still there so the probablilty of recovery is VERY high! I advised them to not dig anymore, "if the ring gets too far into the ground a metal detector will not pick it up, especially platinum having very low conductivity". I had a beach hunt planned that pm with friends Scott and Brett so the search for a person had to wait until the next day, that gave me time to consider how I wanted to approach this situation.
The next day on my laptop an internet search led to several dead ends, phones not in service and unreturned messages. I stumbled upon an advertisement for a metal detector dealer in Brusly La, about 20 miles NNW of Gonzales. I called the number listed and a lady told me her husband no longer sold metal detectors, then he walked into the house and she put him on the phone. I told him (Boyd) "this is gonna sound pretty weird but please bare with me, my name is John Jordan, I live Friendswood, Texas and..............(details of who I am and what I do)" He indicated he no longer sold metal detectors but did own one and would be happy to help if possible. I gave Jessica Boyd's email address and phone number, I also talked to her on the phone.
After a month and then some I get this letter from Kary somebody and it does not register at first (we never spoke or emailed, just Jessica)? He is thanking someone named Boyd for finding his ring and I am the CC. In a few seconds it hit me, WOW BOYD FOUND HIS RING!!!
Congratulation Boyd, GREAT JOB SIR!!!
Congratulations as well to Jessica and Kary on the successful ring recovery!!!
Kind Regards to all three of you.

Hi John,
As I am sure you know by now, we found Kary's ring. I know Kary sent you an
email already, but I just wanted to thank you again. No words can express
how much it means to us to have found his ring, and you were a very
important part of that. I am sincerely grateful and can't thank you enough.

Hey Boyd,
I can't thank you enough for helping us to find my wedding ring.
If there were more good people in the world like y'all then it would be a
better place.
I know you wouldn't take any money or anything, but if ever you are in need
and in our area, you have my number.
The inscription in the ring says, "I WILL KEEP YOU FOREVER". And now because
of your selflessness, I get the chance to do just that.
Thanks again,
Kary *****
Lives change when we help others. Boyd, Jessica and Kary are friends for life now and I am extremely happy to be a small part of this.
